John G.M. Bacot Appointed as Vice President of Operations at AICC

 Steve Young, President of AICC, is pleased to announce the selection of John G.M. Bacot, Sr. as the new Vice President of Operations for AICC. John comes to AICC after successful positions as a regional sales manager for Hycorr Machine, the Ward Machinery Company and the MarquipWardUnited division of Barry-Wehmiller.
John has an M.B.A. from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Biology from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania. He graduated high school from The Boys’ Latin School of Maryland.

Seminar Focuses on Sustainable Packaging

AICC presented its Audio/Web conference titled Blueprint for Sustainable Packaging to over 120 packaging professionals.
Suzanne Fisher, CPP, current president of the Institute of Packaging Professionals and frequent speaker on the topic of sustainable packaging, provided tools for the packaging professionals’ toolbox on how to develop and implement a plan for sustainable packaging. From supplier involvement and accountability through to the manufacturing process, delivery and recovery, participants learned how to get their arms around the large goal of sustainable packaging with 7 easy steps.

Every four years since 2000, AICC has joined together with TAPPI to hold SuperCorrExpo. As in years past, SuperCorrExpo is designed and held in conjunction with the AICC Annual Meeting and the TAPPI Corrugated Packaging Division Conference. Summer Classes for Hands-On Flexo/RDC Training

AICC has several opportunities for hands-on flexo press and flexo rotary die cutter training over the summer beginning at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin, June 23-25 and August 18-20, 2008. Training at Fox Valley is conducted on the WORKHORSE Flexo RDC. The next training on the Martin NT Flexo RDC will take place on July 21-23, 2008 in Clemson, SC.

Designers Find New Ideas to Take Back

More than thirty designers convened at the recent AICC Designers Workshop in Chicago to learn about trends and impacts of materials and equipment in structural design. Presentations were delivered over two days by industry experts, including Ralph Young, Alternative Paper Solutions; Don Pederson, ESKO; Patricia Garin, TEN-E Packaging Services, Inc.; George Cusdin, Flexographic Printing Services; Rick Putch, Dicar Inc.; and Ron Spice, Alliance Machine Systems International, LLC. Jason Hallman of Akers Packaging Services in Middletown, Ohio noted "this was a great opportunity to focus on putting designers back in the driver’s seat" to influence their company’s sustainable packaging goals.
